Special-Use Area

at Lake of the Ozarks State Park

The special-use camping area is by reservation only for group camping. It offers campers four picnic tables, three fire pits and a large area to set up multiple tents. Restrooms and a water hydrant are approximately 250 yards away. Camping capacity is 30 campers. A $2 per camper, per night fee is charged to organized youth groups; a $75 nightly rate and $100 refundable damage deposit are charged for all other groups. Check-in is 3 p.m., and check-out is 2 p.m. the following day. The quiet hours policy remains in effect.

The special use area is located at the corner of Whispering Oaks and Benton roads in Miller County. From the Highway 42 and Highway 134 intersection, travel 1.2 miles on Highway 134 to Whispering Oaks Road. Turn right onto Whispering Oaks Road and travel 1.4 miles to Benton Road. The special-use area will be on your left.

Cave tours at Lake of the Ozarks State Park resume operation beginning May 15. Tours will be offered on Saturdays and Sundays at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. through May 31. Beginning June 1, cave tours and visitor center hours return to normal operation as identified below.

-- To help protect our bats from White Nose Syndrome, accessories (purses, backpacks, strollers, etc.) are not allowed in the cave.
