Relax or enjoy a picnic lunch in the historic site's small picnic area, which has seven tables available.

Picnic Shelter

A picnic shelter, which accommodates 50 people, can be reserved for $40. It has electricity with water and restrooms nearby. If not reserved, it is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Shelter Reservations

To reserve the shelter, contact the historic site to check for availability by calling 417-751-3266. If available, fill out the Shelter Reservation Application and mail it to the historic site for approval. Submission of this application does not guarantee reservation of the shelter.

COVID-19 Temporary Hours

As of Friday, April 2, tours at Nathan and Olive Boone Homestead SHS will be available Friday and Saturday at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.; Sundays at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Guests will need to register for tours at the office walk-up window. Tours will be limited to groups of 6 unless from the same family. Face coverings are recommended and encouraged for visitors on guided tours. The sites virtual tour will remain in place for those wishing to social distance, a smart phone with web access is required to complete the virtual tour.

Summer Hours (On-Season)
April 1 through Oct. 31

  • 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday
  • 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday
  • The site is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Winter Hours (Off-Season)
November through March

  • 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday and Saturday
  • 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday
  • The site is closed Monday through Thursday.

The historic site is closed Christmas Day and Easter Sunday.
