two tents set up in a grassy fieldSpecial-use camping areas are for use by non-profit organizations. These areas are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Organized youth groups (Scouts, 4-H, church, etc.) have priority. To ensure that a camping site is available for your group's use, call 660-563-2463 or visit the park office Mondays and Tuesdays 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., and then Wednesdays through Fridays 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The fee for use of the area is $2 per person, per night. Tax is added to the fee unless a tax-exempt certificate is provided. Only four vehicles are allowed per site.

As of Monday, March 8, 2021, the park office and visitor center foyer will reopen. Modified office hours and visitor center hours will be Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., closed Saturday and Sunday. While in the visitor center or office, staff, visitors and volunteers are required to wear a face covering that covers the nose and mouth, per the Johnson County public health order. Visitors who do not comply with the county’s order may be refused service. A maximum occupancy of three people will be allowed.
