Guided Bird Walk

5/27/2023 | Weston Bend State Park | Weston, MO

It's spring! That means it’s time to get out and stretch those legs – and the best way to do that is by joining park staff in one or more of our guided nature hikes. Staff will be leading wildflower walks in April and bird walks in May. See below for more details.

Wildflower Walks

April 22 and 29, 10:30-11:30 a.m., on Harpst Trail

Harpst Trail has some of the best examples of native wildflowers. Meet at the overlook parking lot and walk this loop trail to learn about these flowers while enjoying the fresh air.

Although less than a mile in length, Harpst Trail has two steep hills and consists of natural, uneven surfaces. There may be rocks, roots and mud along the way. Please wear proper footwear and bring water and sun protection.

Bird Walks

Spring brings all kinds of life to the woods, including migrating birds! Come take a quiet stroll to learn about the birds of our area.

For each walk, you should bring water and sun protection and wear proper clothing and footwear. You are also encouraged to bring binoculars if you have them.

May 7, 9:30-10:30 a.m., on North Ridge Trail

Meet at the North Ridge parking lot for an approximately 2-mile walk on North Ridge Trail. This trail consists of natural, uneven surfaces with small hills and some rocky and muddy sections.

May 27, 9:30-10:30 a.m., on West Ridge Trail

Meet at the overlook parking lot for a 2-mile walk on West Ridge Trail. This natural-surface trail has some exposed roots, rocks and small hills and may be muddy at times.

These events are free and open to the public. Questions? Call the park office at 816-640-5443. In the event of rain, walks will be canceled.
