Woodsy Owl and the Sunbonnet Garden Club invite the public to join them in the annual Smokey Bear and Woodsy Owl Youth Poster Contest kickoff program at Bennett Spring State Park. This national contest is open to children in grades one through five. Posters should promote Woodsy Owl and Smokey Bear conservation practices. Complete contest guidelines can be found online on the National Garden Clubs website.
Beginning at 10 a.m., Federated Garden Clubs members will be present at Shelter B with all supplies needed to create a poster. At 11 a.m., representatives from the Dickerson Park Zoo will present a live owl program at the shelter.
Contest participants are welcome to drop off finished posters for entry at the Bennett Spring nature center by 3 p.m. on Oct. 28.
