Historical Children's Festival

In conjunction with National Kids to Parks Day, come celebrate and kick up your heels at First Missouri State Capitol State Historic Site during the return of the Historical Children's Festival. At this popular festival, you are invited to come live and play as children did in the 1820s and hear interesting stories about life in St. Charles when our first legislators were struggling to organize Missouri into statehood. Children can pick up a passport and journey through the 1820s while participating in hands-on activities to earn prizes.

Activities may include:
  • Quill pen writing
  • Candle dipping
  • Butter churning
  • Washboard and tub
  • Hearth cooking demonstration
  • 1820s games and toys
  • Period skills and crafts
  • Other demonstrations

  • Dance Discovery
  • Musical duo The Buckhannon Brothers
  • Storyteller Marilyn Kinsella
  • Reenactment group Milicia de San Carlos
  • Lewis and Clark Discovery Expedition
Event Time: 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
