Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony for Carolyn Bagley Harding Trail Opening

10/18/2022 | Thousand Hills State Park | Kirksville, MO

The public is invited to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the grand opening of Carolyn Bagley Harding Trail at Thousand Hills State Park. The ceremony will take place at the new trailhead, located in the dining lodge parking lot.

Carolyn Bagley Harding Trail completes phase two of the Forest Lake Area Trail System (FLATS) and includes the installation of a half-mile-long, paved walking and bicycling trail that connects Campground 1 to the park office and extends down to the existing Forest Lake Trail in Campground 2. Before the installation of this trail, park visitors could not go from Campground 1 to the day-use area without walking or biking on the highway. By providing direct access to the day-use area, this new trail eliminates the need to use the highway and creates a much safer experience for visitors.
