Women Outdoors: Nature Journaling

Introducing "Women Outdoors" – classes for women taught by women to women.

Participants in these hands-on classes will learn and share new skills in the outdoors. Classes will be held at Current River and Echo Bluff state parks the second Thursday of each month from April through September. ALL equipment will be provided. Registration is required for ALL classes you plan to attend, so we can be sure to have enough supplies.

You must be at least 16 to attend. NO children, please. Consider this a girls’ night out.


Class Details

April 14: Fishing and Fish Fry, Current River State Park – meet at lower lake

In this class, you will learn how to fish, clean your fish and cook it all up. You supply the fish; we will supply everything else for an outdoor cookout. 

May 12: Archery, Echo Bluff State Park  field by Zoe Lodge

Learn how to use a bow and how throw an atlatl as well as a Swiss arrow. ALL skill levels welcome!

June 9: Dutch Oven Cooking, Echo Bluff State Park  Bluff Top Pavilion

Yes, we are cooking! You will learn how to cook "wild" and store-bought dishes as well as a vegetarian dish.

July 14: Kayaking, Current River State Park  upper lake

You will learn a few basics and then put them into practice with an interpretive nature tour around the lake as we listen to nature as the sun goes down. Bring your own PFD (life jacket) if you have it. This class is limited to 10.

Aug. 11: "Wild" Spa Night, Current River State Park – lodge

Let’s make some foot and hand scrubs as well as some rose water that is FREE!! There might even be some sweet treats to enjoy as we make these indulgent spa treatments to take home.

Sept. 8: Nature Journaling, Echo Bluff State Park – Bluff Top Pavilion

Learn tips and tricks of nature journaling in the field and explore watercolor pencils and tonal paper. Bring your own journal. Don't have one? We have you covered as well.
