Canceled: Birding Excursion on the Katy Trail

1/1/2022 | Katy Trail State Park

This event has been canceled.

Welcome in the new year with a guided hike on the Katy Trail, viewing the birds that live in the area during the winter months.

Join park staff at the McBaine Trailhead, located at Katy Trail mile marker 169.5 (38.8875, -92.4465). Please bring your own binoculars and guidebooks, and dress for the current and expected winter weather. Park staff will guide the group a half mile out and then come back, for a total of 1 mile. The trail is considered easy.

If the temperature is 15 degrees or below, or if the forecast calls for winter weather-covered roads, the hike will be canceled. In order to provide the best viewing environment, please leave your four-legged furry family members at home. The event is free and open to everyone ages 6 and up.

Registration is required, and a sign-up link will be available here: https://icampmo1.usedirect.com/MSPWeb/Activities/Search.aspx.

Hike Time: 8:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.
Meeting Location: McBaine Trailhead (Katy Trail mile marker 169.5)
