Canceled: Christmas Saturdays

12/5/2020 to 12/19/2020 | Nathan and Olive Boone Homestead State Historic Site | Ash Grove, MO

These events have been canceled. The Boone home will still be decorated Dec. 5-31, and visitors will be able to learn about the 19th century Christmas decorations via two stops on the virtual tour.

Join Nathan and Olive Boone Homestead State Historic Site as we celebrate 19th century Christmas splendor with several family- and social-distance-friendly Christmas activities. The Boone home will be decorated with period Christmas decorations Dec. 5 through Dec. 31.

Candlelight Christmas Stroll: Dec. 5, 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Experience the calm and stillness of a winter's night on the Boone Homestead as you stroll the site’s lantern-and-luminary-lit paths. Bring your camera and stop at one of the Christmas photo stations for a one-of-a-kind photo opportunity. Along the path, stop to lean about 19th century Christmas traditions at one of our virtual interpretation stations. Paths will be candlelit, but a flashlight is recommended!

Ornament and Storybook Trail: Dec. 12, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Begin your hike at the covered picnic shelter on the signed Christmas trail. One hundred ornaments will decorate the trail, but there is only one golden ornament. Be the first to find it to claim your special prize at the site office. Along the trail, stop at one of three virtual storytelling stations for a reading of a holiday classic.

Christmas Traditions: Dec. 19, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
With smartphone in hand, start your hike at the site office along the interpretive trail. Scan the QR code at each virtual interpretation station to learn about a unique 19th century Christmas tradition. Collect materials at each station along the way to assemble a unique Boone Homestead Christmas ornament.

Programs may be canceled due to inclement weather. Please contact the site office at 417-751-3266 for the most up-to-date cancellation information.
