Youth Fishing Day and Public Information Meeting

8/22/2020 | Finger Lakes State Park | Columbia, MO

The public is strongly encouraged to follow social-distancing guidelines and be proactive in protecting themselves and others amid ongoing public health concerns. Come prepared with hand sanitizer and bottled water, avoid large and congested crowds, and please stay home if sick. Face coverings are encouraged when social-distancing measures are difficult to maintain.

Join us on Aug. 22 from 10 a.m. to noon for the eighth annual Youth Fishing Day at Finger Lakes State Park.

Bring the kids out for a day of fishing on the banks of Peabody Lake. Learn basic fishing skills, and receive a prize for biggest fish, most fish and first fish caught. Prizes will be awarded to those 12 years of age and under. Fishing poles and bait will be provided for the first 25 who sign up in advance. The event is free for all ages, and there is no fishing permit required for those under 15.

Come early to our annual public information meeting at 9 a.m., where visitors can meet the park staff and ask questions.

For more information and to sign up, call Finger Lakes State Park at 573-443-5315.

Input from the public is important to the department. These informational meetings, which are being held in all state parks and historic sites, help create a two-way communication. The meetings give staff the opportunity to let people know the current status and future plans for the park or site, and they offer visitors the opportunity to comment on the facilities.
