Canceled: VIP (Very Important Prairie) Hike

9/5/2020 | Cuivre River State Park | Troy, MO

This event has been canceled.

Prairies are the most endangered ecosystem in the world. Less than 2% of our prairies still exist. Sherwood Prairie is the largest example of a prairie left at Cuivre River State Park, and late summer and early fall can be a great time to visit.

Join the naturalist at the Blazing Star Trailhead at the end of the full hookup loop in the campground for a leisurely hike along the 2-mile Blazing Star Trail. The trail traverses both prairie and woodland areas, both of which were common in Lincoln County before settlement.

Participants should dress for the weather, bring plenty of water, and wear sturdy shoes. For more information, call the park office at 636-528-7247.
