2/1/2020 to 2/28/2020 | Battle of Pilot Knob State Historic Site | Pilot Knob, MO
As part of our ongoing winter “Meet the Artist” series of events, Battle of Pilot Knob Historic site is proud to present a photographic essay by local photographer Ione Koenemann.
Ione has been an artist since her early childhood and has worked in various media over the years, including pastels, charcoal, oils, acrylics, pen and ink, and recently pictorial leather carvings. She became interested in photography through her husband, who was a professional photographer. After her husband passed, she continued to develop her craft by taking courses and practicing at her rural Missouri home, where she enjoys photographing nature. She also started helping friends by photographing special family events. This led her to photograph various community events, where she enjoys recording the joy and fun that happen at local festivals and parades.
Over the last few years, Ione has chronicled life in the Arcadia Valley. She has strived to capture the unique natural wonders here in the valley, from the spectacular sunsets and sunrises over the mountains, to the beauty of the forest as the seasons change, to the fog rolling down the valley on a cool fall or spring morning. She has also recorded the unique people and their traditions, as they celebrate holidays, community events and their history. Her insightful and interesting essay on life in the valley will be on display at the Battle of Pilot Knob State Historic site museum for the month of February 2020.
A special “meet the artist” reception will be held at the museum on Saturday, Feb. 1 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Light snacks will be available, and the artist will be on hand to visit with the public to discuss her work.
