Picking Up Pawpaws

9/14/2019 to 9/21/2019 | Bennett Spring State Park | Lebanon, MO

Bennett Spring will hold a contest to see who can find the biggest pawpaw fruit. The pawpaw is a natural Missouri plant whose fruit ripens in September. Participants can bring their pawpaw fruit into the Bennett Spring nature center to be weighed from Sept. 14-15 and Sept. 17-Sept. 21 (see entry times and dates below). The largest pawpaw will win a certificate and a prize. Photos will be taken of the participant and entry at weigh-in. Entries must be obtained from the state of Missouri.

On Saturday, Sept. 21, the winner will be announced and local pawpaw bread will be available for tasting. Following final weigh-in, there will be a program about all of Missouri’s state animals and minerals, with special recognition to our newest icon – the state fruit tree, the pawpaw.
