Native Americans in the Revolutionary War

7/7/2018 | Annie and Abel Van Meter State Park | Miami, MO

In celebration of our country's Independence Day, the staff at the park will be diving into the Revolutionary War and the role of Native Americans in this historical event. Native Americans, like the colonists, had to choose one side or another or attempt to remain neutral throughout the war. The revolution became even more complicated for the Native Americans because the revolution signified further expansion and encroachment by settlers onto their native lands. Come to Missouri's American Indian Cultural Center for a deeper look into this interesting and historical topic. Click here to read the news release.

This event is free and open to the public.
