Earth Day Celebration: Bird Bonanza

4/21/2018 | Roaring River State Park | Cassville, MO

Keep your eyes on the sky! This year, to celebrate Earth Day, we are celebrating our feathered friends with a birding bonanza. Join us to learn about birds in the park and participate in other educational activities.

Festivities will begin at 9 a.m. at the Ozark Chinquapin Nature Center with a birding hike along River Trail. Bring your binoculars!

This year, we are excited to announce that Johnny Morris’s Wonders of Wildlife National Museum and Aquarium are bringing live birds of prey!  Staff from Wonders of Wildlife will give two programs to showcase their beautiful raptors.

Missouri Department of Conservation will be handing out free trees at the nature center all day!  These trees and shrubs would provide great habitat to attract birds to your yard.

Other agencies, including the U.S. Forest Service and the U.S. Geological Survey, will also be on hand providing information and free activities.

The park’s nature center will host interpretive programs, including a bird’s nest activity and bird feeder craft, at noon and 3 p.m. respectively.

This is a free event open to the public. For more information about the event, contact a park naturalist at the Ozark Chinquapin Nature Center at 417-847-3742. Click here to read the news release.
