Ozark Christmas Traditions

12/15/2018 | Nathan and Olive Boone Homestead State Historic Site | Ash Grove, MO

Nathan and Olive Boone Homestead State Historic Site is hosting "Third Saturdays at the Homestead" in 2018. Explore Missouri's frontier past through a variety of hands-on activities. Programs will be hosted at several locations throughout the site and are appropriate for all ages. All events are free and open to the public.

The last event of the year will focus on Ozark Christmas traditions. See how the Boones and residents of the Missouri Ozarks celebrated Christmas. Make a 19th century wreath or ornament, stroll the site’s lantern lit paths, and experience the site’s natural resources in winter. The Boone home will be decorated for the season, and costumed interpreters will share stories of Christmas past. A reading of “Twas The Night Before Christmas” will take place at 3 p.m. in the Boone home.

Event times: 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.
