It's Apple Butter Making Time

9/29/2018 | Current River State Park | Salem, MO

Have you ever wondered how your great grandparents or even your grandparents made soap or canned food?  This summer at Current River State Park, there will be several classes taught that will highlight those “old ways.”

This class in this series is apple butter making. Learn how to make apple butter the “old fashioned way” over a wood fire and then bring it indoors to finish it off safely using the water bath method. This is a hands-on class and you even get to take some apple butter home!  This class is taught by Cammie Younger from the University of Missouri Extension.

This class is free but space is limited and you will need to register in advance. The deadline to register is Sept.  15. Bring a snack or lunch and drinks. No alcohol please. For more information or to register, call Connie Weber at 573-751-1224. Click here to read the news release.
