Lye Soap Making

Have you ever wondered how your great grandparents or even your grandparents made soap or canned food?  This summer at Current River State Park, there will be several classes taught that will highlight those “old ways.” This class will be Lye Soap making with Cathy Wyatt. You will learn how to make traditional lye soap in a kettle over an open fire! This is a hands-on class and you even get to take some soap home with you. Bring a small container to put it in.  

This class is free, but you will need to register in advance. The deadline to register is March 23. Bring a snack or lunch and drinks. No alcohol please. For more information or to register, call Connie Weber at 573-751-1224.
