Canceled: First Day Hike

1/1/2018 | Cuivre River State Park | Troy, MO

This hike has been canceled due to predicted low temperatures.

Start the new year off on the right foot with a hike along a portion of the scenic Lakeside Trail. Visitors can join the park naturalist for a 1.5-mile stroll along a portion of the trail along Lake Lincoln. Halfway along the hike, the naturalist will take visitors up the stairs into the campground to enjoy a campfire, s'mores and hot cocoa and talk about exciting events coming up in 2018. From there, visitors will walk back down a second set of steps to rejoin Lakeside Trail and head back to the parking lot.

The trail itself is an easy walk, but due to the amount of steps to the campground, some visitors will find this to be a moderately difficult hike. Pets are welcome but must be on a leash. Visitors are encouraged to dress for the weather and wear sturdy shoes. In case of inclement weather, please check the park’s Facebook page for updates or cancellations.

Hike time: 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.
Meeting Location: Beach parking lot

This hike is part of a national First Day Hikes initiative by America's State Parks. For more information and a list of other First Day Hikes in Missouri State Parks, click here.
