Mushroom Workshop with Maxine Stone

Special guest Maxine Stone, author of the book “Missouri’s Wild Mushrooms,” will provide park guests with a mushroom identification workshop in the dining hall of Camp Derricotte. The workshop will start with an indoor class on mushroom identification and some fascinating information on what makes fungi so amazing. After lunch, Stone will lead the group on a short mushroom foray on one of the park’s trails.  

This workshop is designed for an adult audience. Participants should bring a sack lunch, and dress for the weather. The workshop will take place rain or shine. Bug spray, sunscreen and plenty of water is recommended.  Bring your copy of your favorite mushroom ID book, or you may purchase one at the visitor center.

Space is very limited for this free event and reservations are required. Reservations will be taken starting July 24, 2017, and can be made by calling the park office at 636-528-7247.
