6/17/2017 | Prairie State Park | Mindenmines, MO
Prairies are wonderful after dark. There is so much going on if we only pay attention and switch from using our eyes to some of our other senses. Listen as coyotes howl, insects buzz, frogs call and perhaps even some lightning bugs give us a visual display. Some flowers even open up at night, so keep your nose ready.
You will have the chance to explore the prairie with a Nature after Hours hike as the sun sets. The hike will be about 1.25 miles in length up and down hills. Insect repellent, closed-toe shoes and a small flashlight are recommended.
