World Atlatl Day

6/3/2017 | Graham Cave State Park | Danville, MO

Join park staff and members of the Missouri Atlatl Association in celebration of World Atlatl Day at the lower picnic area in the park. Several activities are planned throughout the day, including the demonstration and teaching of the use of the atlatl from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The atlatl is a tool designed with a notch on one end to hold spears or darts for hunting. The public is encouraged to help us celebrate the use and technology of these early Native American weapons. In addition, the Missouri Atlatl Association is hosting an International Standard Accuracy Contest (ISAC) between contestants, along with Moche Toss and other games after 2 p.m. Pre-registration is not required and no experience is required to participate. For more information, telephone the park office at 573-546-3476.
