First Annual Salt River Quilt Show

10/15/2016 to 10/16/2016 | Mark Twain Birthplace State Historic Site | Florida, MO

Mark Twain Birthplace State Historic Site and the Monroe County Historical Society will be hosting the First Annual Salt River Quilt Show, “Remembering Grandma’s Quilts and Making New Memories” inside the Mark Twain Memorial Shrine. Quilts will range from vintage (more than 50 years old) to modern representations of classic patterns and fabrics, and include patriotic and pioneer themes, as well as interpretations of Mark Twain’s stories and quotes. Visitors can browse the offerings of quilt and fabric-related vendors outdoors and enjoy lunch under the trees on the lovely museum grounds. Food vendors will be available. Three live presentations will be offered daily at 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m.: “History of Barn Quilts from 1830 to Present;” “Underground Railroad Quilt Code: Fact or Fiction?” and “Westward Ho: Quilts of the Pioneers.”

Admission is free, but donations will be accepted.
