7/21/2016 | Sam A. Baker State Park | Patterson, MO
This free event is for kids ages 6 and older who love nature and are eager to earn their Explorer patch. Whether you are currently participating in Missouri State Parks and Historic Sites Explorer activities or interested in getting started, this will be an awesome experience for all.
There are many tiny creatures living under your feet in the grass, in the woods and even in the water! If you enjoy detective work and exploring nature, then you will want to join us for an afternoon of some “buggy” adventures.
Participants will learn about the power of the smallest of creatures. Activities include snorkeling in Big Creek, exploring rotten logs, decorating T-shirts and much more! Participants will need to bring sunscreen, insect repellent, a T-shirt to decorate, drinking water, sturdy shoes and clothes for getting wet. The program runs from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. with the option to attend our “Spider Sniff” program at 8 p.m. Snacks will be provided. All the programs provided are to work for the Explorer Patch as well as becoming a Missouri State Park Explorer! At least one adult is required to attend the event with the child(ren), and all participants must join in all activities in order to receive their Explorer Patch.
Registration is required by July 18. For more information or to register, contact the park naturalist at 573-856-4514.
