Join a park naturalist for a 3-mile hike to the historic hiking shelter. Celebrate National Trails Day with a relaxing hike on one of the oldest trails in the state park system. Mudlick Trail is a legacy of the Civilian Conservation Corps and has been enjoyed by hikers for nearly 80 years. Join a park naturalist and experience a journey through time. Discover the unique geology of the St. Francois Mountains, pass waterfalls and bluffs, and relax at a historic hiking shelter featuring a breathtaking overlook of Big Creek.
The trail is rugged and steep in some places, so wear sturdy hiking shoes and bring plenty of snacks and water. Meet at the Mudlick Trail trailhead across from the park store. For more information, call the park naturalist at 573-856-4514.
