Author Meet and Greet

10/17/2015 | Thomas Hart Benton Home and Studio State Historic Site | Kansas City, MO

Attend a free creative career event hosted by the site to inspire and empower artists, writers and others to celebrate creativity and jumpstart their creative careers. The special afternoon features a free tour of the historic home and grounds along with a meet and greet with the creators of “Crossing The Troll Bridge: An Illustrated Marketing Guide for Artists and Writers” by Robin Blakely and Frank Robert Dixon.

The CEO of Creative Center of America, Robin Blakely, has worked on more than 250 books and provided creative career support to more than 1,000 creative individuals and companies. She says, “We are honored to be part of this event. It is a great opportunity for people to visit this extraordinary artist’s amazing home for free. And, my team and I will be there to provide free professional advice for local artists and writers who may need professional encouragement and tips on how to empower themselves to build strong talent-driven brands and businesses.”

Frank Robert Dixon, noted California-based illustrator and co-creator of “Crossing the Troll Bridge,” is flying in for the event. Dixon’s highly regarded artwork is described by the late great Ray Bradbury as ‘superb, incredible, beautiful!” Dixon says, “The Thomas Hart Benton home and studio is one of the treasures of Missouri. It is a magical setting for creative-minded people to find lasting inspiration in the very space where the master artist once lived and worked.”

Blakely and Dixon will be joined by Richard Tyler Jordan, senior vice president of Creative Center of America. An author and public relations expert, Jordan has worked on more than 450 feature films from Walt Disney Studios. Richard says, “This will be a great day for writers and artists in Kansas City to network with each other for free and to learn all kinds of ways to thrive and survive in their creative careers. We’ll be discussing themes of the new book, which include overcoming fears connected to marketing. Writers, artists and all talent are welcome to bring samples of their work so we can offer very focused tips.”

The new book, “Crossing the Troll Bridge” by Robin Blakely and Frank Robert Dixon, provides a big-picture view of the most important parts of building a creative career which include:

  • honoring the creative identity
  • developing natural talent and skill
  • selecting modern communication platforms
  • reaching out to an individual’s chosen target market
  • and, most importantly, taking solid control of your own professional dreams.

Admission will be free for this event.
