6/1/2013 | Harry S Truman State Park | Warsaw, MO
Take a special early morning hike with park staff and watch the sunrise over the beautiful park. Learn about the new trail being put in to showcase the park’s glade restoration. Park staff will guide you to a scenic overlook, not yet open to the public, to see the sun rise and then will assist you on an interpretive tour of the new trail and glade restoration. Early in the morning, you might see turkey vultures drying their feathers after a long cool night’s sleep or eagles looking for breakfast as the sore right in front of you near one of the highest bluffs on the lake. This overlook is the only place on the lake where you can view the Harry S Truman hydro-electric dam and the local landmark mile long bridge from the same spot. Bring your camera and a breakfast bar and we will show you a part of the park not usually viewed by the general public.
Hike time: 4:45 a.m.
