Museum After Hours: "1844 Presidential Campaign, Prelude to Secession"

11/7/2012 | Missouri State Museum | Jefferson City, MO

In November, the Missouri State Museum will continue to have “Museum after Hours” on the first Wednesday of each month, when museum galleries will stay open until 9 p.m. At 7 p.m., Betty Winfield, Ph.D., will present a program called “1844 Presidential Campaign, Prelude to Secession.” The 1844 presidential campaign, as indicated by banners, songs, flyers and political newspapers, was a prelude to Missouri’s controversial entry into the Civil War. This program will take place in the Capitol rotunda on the first floor of the Missouri State Capitol.
