Fall Folk Concert

9/16/2012 | Bollinger Mill State Historic Site | Burfordville, MO

Come to a free concert in the day-use area featuring Don and Lori Buedel, a husband and wife team playing traditional acoustic tunes on a variety of instruments. Bring a blanket or lawn chair to sit on.

Don is a multi-instrumentalist (fiddle, mandolin, five-string banjo and guitar, plus vocals) who plays the traditional music of the Ozarks and southern hills. These fiddle waltzes, ancient murder ballads, and dance tunes have been handed down from generation to generation. He draws his material from the Ozarks, the Midwest and the southern United States.

Lori plays rhythm guitar, four-string banjo and ukulele. She was active in the folk scene of her hometown of Toronto, Canada, and currently plays with Don, both as a duo, and in the Smoky Hollow Stringband of Murphysboro, Illinois, where they both currently reside.

Owing to their masterful renditions of the authentic Ozark tradition, Don and Lori Buedel are requested performers at heritage programs sponsored by the National Park Service and Missouri Department of Conservation. Don has won many fiddle contests with his highly rhythmic Missouri short-bow fiddling style.

Concert time: 2 p.m. - 4 p.m.
