Rock Swap

Missouri Mines State Historic Site welcomes the public for the annual rock swap! Attendees will have the opportunity to buy, sell, swap or admire rocks, mineral specimens, fossils, rock jewelry and rock art at this event on the grounds of the historic site. This event is open to the public, and admission is free.

During the event, visitors will be able to take free self-guided tours of the site’s Powerhouse Museum. The museum interprets Missouri's mining history and displays restored old mining machinery and an outstanding mineral collection.

There will also be free guided tours during this event. These tours will be limited to 20 participants, and registration is required. Those who want to take part will need to sign up at the Missouri State Parks booth beginning at 9 a.m. on the day of the tour. No reservations will be taken prior to the tour date or by phone.

The tour schedule is as follows:

Saturday, June 14:

  • 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. – Self-guided museum tours
  • 10 a.m. – Guided Interpretive Trail tour
  • Noon – Guided Interpretive Trail tour
  • 2 p.m. – Guided museum tour

Saturday, June 15:

  • 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. – Self-guided museum tours
  • 10 a.m. – Guided Interpretive Trail tour
  • Noon – Guided museum tour

Rock hobbyists and vendors wishing to set up a booth must complete an application. Booth spots are free but are limited and must be reserved in advance. All booth spots will be outdoors in an open area, approximately 15 by 15 feet. There will be no electricity or amenities provided at booth spots. Vendors will need to bring their own tables, chairs and shade tents if desired.
