What do you get when you combine history and the outdoors? A history hike!
You are invited to learn about women whose lives touched the Nathan and Olive Boone Homestead and the surrounding community while hiking with site staff. This 2-mile hike will take visitors throughout the site and will make frequent stops along the way to allow staff to share stories of family, survival and intrigue. This free event will begin at the covered picnic shelter near the site office at 1 p.m.
Participants are encouraged to wear sturdy hiking shoes, dress for the weather, bring water and use insect repellent. Registration is requested and can be completed by calling the office at 417-751-3266. In the event of inclement weather, the hike may be canceled.
Nathan and Olive Boone Homestead State Historic Site is located at 7850 N. State Highway V, Ash Grove, northwest of Springfield.
Hike time: 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.
