Feb. 22 is National Walk Your Dog Day! It's the perfect day to get some exercise, hang out with your furry friends, and explore a Missouri state park or historic site.
From 10-11 a.m., dogs and their humans are invited to take a self-guided walk along Spring Branch Trail at Mastodon State Historic Site. We will have a table at the trailhead with information about our site and a map of other state parks and historic sites to explore with your pets. In addition, a staff member will be handing out dog treats and a craft for you and your pooch while supplies last.
If you can't make it to the site between 10 and 11 a.m., you can still walk your dog on the trails at Mastodon! Our trails are open from 8 a.m. until a half hour past sunset year-round.
This event is free and open to the public, and there is no need to register. Dogs must be kept on a leash no longer than 10 feet at all times, and visitors must clean up their pets' waste. For more information about visiting Missouri State Parks with your furry friends, click here.
In the event of inclement weather, including temperatures below freezing, this program will be canceled. For more information, including specifics about weather-related cancellations, please call the site office at 636-464-2976.
