Ancient Languages

8/4/2024 | Mastodon State Historic Site | Imperial, MO

How did our earliest ancestors communicate? How has language evolved over time? Where and when did spoken language turn into written language? Learn about ancient languages and archaeology at our interpreter table! Participants can even try their hand at some of the oldest writing techniques--cuneiform and hieroglyphics!

This is a free program for all ages. No registration is required; participants can arrive and participate any time between 2 and 4 p.m.

All activities are scheduled to take place in the field next to the museum annex, which is accessible from the museum parking lot. In the event of inclement weather, activities will be moved indoors to the museum.
