10/22/2023 | Bothwell Lodge State Historic Site | Sedalia, MO
Historically at Stonyridge Farm, John Homer Bothwell and his workers, friends and family encountered snakes just as we do today. Stonyridge is the ideal home for snakes, with its many acres of woods, caves, rock ledges and cliff faces. Bothwell would discover this over the course of his many walks, and he recorded not only his observations, but how he came to respect these misunderstood creatures.
Join park staff, special guest Connie Koch, and her friendly pet snakes to get an up-close view and learn how snakes were helpful to have around not just for Bothwell but for the balance of nature.
This free walk-in-style event will take place at the historic garage, which now serves as the site's visitor center. You may show up at any time between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Spooky treat bags will be available while supplies last.
Program Time: 1 p.m. - 4 p.m.
