What is Archaeology?

9/19/2023 | Mastodon State Historic Site | Imperial, MO

September is Missouri Archaeology Month! Expand your knowledge of archaeology at our "What is Archaeology?" table. Interpretive staff will provide information about Missouri archaeology and previous excavations conducted at Mastodon State Historic Site. Participants will also be able to try their hand at excavating – and eat a tasty snack – in our chocolate chip cookie excavation activity.

This is a FREE drop-in interpretive program. Participants can attend any time between 5 p.m. and 7 pm. Registration is not required. The chocolate chip cookie excavation will be available while supplies last. Interpreters will NOT be doing artifact IDs at this event. The program will take place at the playground in the picnic area.

For more information, call the site office at 636-464-2976.

Program Time: 5 p.m. - 7 p.m.
