The ORV riding area will be closed from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 17, 2017. The Leadbelt National Enduro will be held during that time.

Jan 9, 2017 until further notice

Due to the freeze/thaw conditions, Opossum Hollow Trail is temporarily closed to bicyclists and McAdoo Trail temporarily closed to equestrian users. All trails are opened to hikers.

Please be careful of debris, wet, or muddy areas of the trails. We anticipate reopening the trails for normal use which includes equestrian and bicycling on January 23.

Lincoln Hills Road is temporarily closed at various times during the winter months due to inclement weather and icy road conditions.  During these times of road closure, the main campground can be accessed from Walker Road.   Cheatham Road will also be closed during these times.  The boat launch area is also closed.   The visitor center is open during the week and closed on the weekends.

The Boardwalk Trail is temporarily closed until further notice due to maintenance.

The main portion of the boat launch ramp is temporarily closed and both courtesy docks are unavailable for use until further notice due to low water conditions.  One lane of the ramp which extends farther out into the lake remains open for use.

The Visitor Center restrooms are temporarily closed due to waterline repair.  Vault toilets are open in the park at the first castle parking lot, at the post office day use area and at the lake day use area parking lot.

During open hours of the Sgt. Darrell S. Cole Memorial Shooting Range, a one-mile section of the park's bicycle trail will be closed to ensure visitor safety. The affected section is between mile markers 6 and 7. During the winter, this closure will be Thursday-Saturday. Further information on hours can be accessed on the Mineral Area College website.

Drinking fountains in public day use areas are turned off for the winter season. Drinking water is still available in the restrooms at the visitor center and at a frost-free spigot at the maintenance area.

The section of Katy Trail State Park from Griessen Road to Boonville Street in Sedalia will be closed beginning Monday, November 14, 2016 until further notice.  Cyclist will need to use the road route found here to connect from Griessen Road to the Sedalia Depot.

The vault toilet in the Buteo Day Use Area and Showerhouse 1 in the campground are temporarily closed to allow for removal and preparation of a new vault toilet and restroom/showerhouse.

Several of the modern restrooms at trailheads with this amenity have been winterized and closed for the season. It is anticipated those will reopen April 1, 2017. All vault toilets will remain open over winter. Additionally, portable toilets have been placed at several of the winterized trailheads as a convenience to trail users.

Nov 1, 2016 - May 31, 2017

Because of freeze-thaw cycles and extended wet conditions historically experienced during this time period, the equestrian trail in Gans Creek Wild Area is closed Nov. 1, 2016, through May 31, 2017.  The trail remains open to hikers.  Bicycles and other mechanized equipment are not allowed in the wild area.
