The historic site will be closed on Monday, August 21, 2017 and will re-open as usual on Thursday, August 24.
Phone and internet service are currently unavailable at the park. The service provider has indicated that services should be restored by Thursday, Aug. 17. If visitors need to reach park staff by phone, they may contact Lewis and Clark State Park at 816-579-5564.
Due to the wet conditions, Opossum Hollow Trail is temporarily closed to bicyclists and McAdoo Trail temporarily closed to equestrian users. All trails are opened to hikers. Please be careful of debris, wet, or muddy areas of the trails.
We anticipate reopening the trails for normal use which includes equestrian and bicycling on Aug. 18.
Due to the solar eclipse event, the visitor center will close at 11 a.m. through 2:30 p.m. and J. Huston Tavern will close at noon through 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 21. The outer doors of the visitor center will remain open for restroom availability through this closure.
Due to a special event on Sat., Aug. 19 through Sun., Aug 20, the following areas will be temporarily closed to public use:
-- courtesy dock on the south shore of Ha Ha Tonka cove
-- fishing dock on the south shore of Ha Ha Tonka cove
-- kayak steps on the south shore of Ha Ha Tonka cove
The following areas will be temporarily closed from 3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 20 through Monday, August 21 in preparation for and due to the eclipse event taking place on Monday, Aug. 21. All areas will reopen under normal operations on Tuesday, Aug. 22.
-- Parking at the Memorial Picnic Site area and Interpretive Center
-- Parking and access to the Scenic Overlook/Gazebo Shelter
-- Parking and access to the Petroglyph Site
The trailheads in Rocheport (MM 178.3) and North Jefferson City (MM 143.2) will be closed from 8 pm on Sunday, August 20 through 6 am on Tuesday, August 22 due to the Total Eclipse of the Katy Trail event.
As a precaution, the River Scene Trail’s staircase/boardwalk will be closed on Monday 8/21/17 due to load limitations. Guests should plan accordingly for hiking and eclipse viewing.
Visitors on Aug. 21 are encouraged to refer to the map below when making their plans to visit the site.

Due to the solar eclipse, no tours will be offered on Monday, Aug. 21st. Tours will resume on their on-season schedule on Tuesday, Aug. 22nd.
The boat launch next to the host site is temporarily closed until further notice. The boat launch at the end of the campground point remains open.
The fourth floor of Bollinger Mill will not be a part of the regular tour due to restoration work. Tours will still include the second and third floors of the mill.
Due to our agreement with the Missouri State Fairgrounds for the use of the parking lot, the equestrian parking area at the Sedalia Fairgrounds will be closed during the month of August.
Due to the reduced weight limit, RVs, travel trailers, buses, and 5th wheels are no longer permitted to use the Bramwell entrance to the park. Visitors with these vehicles must use either the main entrance from Hwy 64 or the south entrance from Hwy OO.
