Bennett Spring Service Days

4/15/2020 to 6/25/2020 | Bennett Spring State Park | Lebanon, MO

Bennett Spring State Park is holding a series of park work days to remove invasive plants throughout the park. Invasive species, such as winter creeper, garlic mustard and honeysuckle cause problems for native plants, leading to a reduction in biodiversity. Some cause a change in the soil or decrease the number of beneficial insects or insects that are in the area around water. This interrupts the food chain for fish.

You are invited to join park staff every Wednesday and Thursday from April 15 to May 28 and again from June 17 to June 25 to help to rid Bennett Spring of these unwanted plants. You may come as many times as you like. Youth can earn a volunteer patch for their participation.

These events will begin at the nature center at 10 a.m. Advance registration is not necessary. Gloves and trash bags will be provided. Volunteers are encouraged to dress for the weather, wear sturdy shoes and bring water.

  • Canceled: April 15-16, 22-23, 29-30
