6/3/2017 | Rock Bridge Memorial State Park | Columbia, MO
Grassland Trail: Learn about the people who came together to create this park more than 50 years ago; about dragonflies and other life in sinkhole ponds; about grassland wildflowers, several of which will be in bloom; and about the history of this piece of the park (prior to becoming part of the park and its management since then). Enjoy the songs of birds and the view of grasslands, woodlands, sinkholes and open sky as we walk about 2 miles on-trail on gently rolling land with open skies.
This event is free. Reservations are required because space is limited. When you call (573-449-7402), you will be given driving directions. This hike is recommended for ages 8 years and up. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Prefer no dogs.
Help celebrate the park's 50th anniversary by participating on one or all of these hikes held the first Saturday of each month. Visit different parts of the park and learn about the park’s founding, history and nature. Also, help care for the park through a short service project.
Hike time: 1:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
This event is being held in conjunction with National Trails Day, sponsored by the American Hiking Society. Click here for more information and other related events throughout Missouri state parks.
