National Trails Day

Hawn State Park and Eastern Missouri Group of The Sierra Club are sponsoring a guided hike and information tables at the Whispering Pine Trail trailhead. This 6-mile hike on the north loop of Whispering Pine Trail involves crossing Pickle Creek several times. The hike will also climb the two highest points of the park with dramatic vistas. Participants should wear rugged shoes, bring water and snacks. Participants should be prepared for rocky terrain with several creek crossings. There are no bridges on these creek crossings. This hike will last approximately five hours.

Volunteers and staff will also be handing out information and trail maps at the Whispering Pine Trail trailhead from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Hike time: 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
