20th Anniversary Celebration

9/17/2011 | Arrow Rock State Historic Site | Arrow Rock, MO

The 20th birthday of the grand opening of the historic site’s visitor center will be commemorated with a small celebration and cake and punch. Opened in September of 1991, the center showcases exhibits and artifacts of Arrow Rock, Missouri's oldest state historic site and the region historically known as "The Boonslick Country."  Since its opening, the visitor center has served nearly 600,000 visitors. Sixty thousand of them were elementary school children attending education programs in the building. Former state Senator James Mathewson, who was instrumental in securing the legislation needed to build the center, will be on hand to deliver remarks.

This celebration will be held in conjunction with The People of the River's Mouth lecture and book signing.
