Throwback Program: DNR and MDC Film Strips

10/19/2024 | Roaring River State Park | Cassville, MO

Come celebrate the history of beautiful Roaring River State Park! Each Saturday night in October, we will throw it back to the past as we present nostalgic interpretive programs at the park’s amphitheater.

In the first three programs, we will show film strips from the 1940s through the 1960s from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources’ and the Missouri Department of Conservation's film collections. The series will end with on Oct. 26 with an evening of storytelling presented by historian and storyteller Todd Wilkinson, who will spin legends from writings of noted Ozark folklorist Vance Randolph and Roaring River's own "Mountain Maid," Jean Wallace.

These events are free and open to the public, and there is no need to register. Seating is limited at the amphitheater, so you're encouraged to arrive or early or bring a lawn chair.

For more information, please call the Ozark Chinquapin Nature Center at 417-847-3742 or the park office at 417-847-2539.
