Teaching American History: The Path to United States Citizenship

8/4/2023 | Missouri State Museum | Jefferson City, MO

The Missouri State Museum is partnering with Teaching American History to host three seminars in 2023 and early 2024. These free daylong seminars connect scholars with local educators on a wide array of topics. Seminars are free, but registration is required.

The Aug. 4 seminar will examine the questions and primary documents that established the pathway to United States citizenship. Our discussion will be highlighted through a study starting with the Citizenship Act of 1790. We'll explore why the policies were changed in the 1920s, and again during the 1960s. Join us at the table for this timely conversation.

All attendees of this free professional development program will receive lunch, a letter of attendance, and paper and digital copies of the reader.
