Halloween Spooktacular

10/22/2022 | Pomme de Terre State Park | Pittsburg, MO

Pomme de Terre will host a Halloween Spooktacular event at the Hermitage Campground on Saturday, Oct. 22

Schedule of Activities:

11 a.m. – Halloween Safety
Meet our park ranger at the Hermitage amphitheater for a presentation on Halloween safety tips.

11:30 a.m. – Lunch
We'll serve up some food. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and visit with our staff and one another!

1 p.m. – Pumpkin Carving Contest
Bring your pre-carved jack-o’-lanterns to the amphitheater for judging. Impress our campground hosts with your talent and let them be the judge! Prizes will be awarded for the scariest, most original, and best “thinking-out-of-the box” jack-o’-lanterns.

2 p.m. – Creepy Crawlies with Mr. Crompton
Our naturalist will delight guests with his presentation on things that creep and crawl through nature.

2:30 p.m. – Pumpkin Chunkin’ Contest
Join Pete and our park maintenance staff for a good ole-fashioned mini-pumpkin chunkin’ contest.

4 p.m. – Costume Contest at the Amphitheater
Meet our campground hosts at the amphitheater in your Halloween costume. The hosts will award prizes for best dressed, most original, and scariest costume in three age groups: ages 0-6, 7-14, and 15 and up.

4:30-6 p.m. – Trick-or-Treating through the Campground

7 p.m. – Campsite Decorating Contest
Our staff will announce the winners of the campsite decorating contest. Prizes will be awarded for the best campsite, scariest campsite and most original campsite.

7:30 p.m. – S’mores and Story Time with Chuck OR Movie, Popcorn and Hot Chocolate (TBD)
Gather around the campfire to enjoy a story and s’mores. Bring a drink and a blanket and listen as Chuck reads "S'more Sasquatch," a short story about a Sasquatch in the mountains that has a sweet tooth for marshmallows. You may want to bring your own marshmallows for extra caution.
Instead of the s'mores and story time, there may be a movie with popcorn and hot chocolate.
