Join author/naturalist Lorie Hetrick-Volenberg (pen name “Lena Lichenpold”), Montgomery City librarian Gaylee Harris, professional storyteller Marilyn Kinsella and experimental archaeologist Larry Kinsella at Graham Cave State Park on the afternoon of Saturday, May 14. These talented guest speakers will present a series of nature-inspired stories and activities on the lawn in front of Graham Cave.
Schedule of Events:
1-2:30 p.m. Meet the Author: Lena Lichenpold (naturalist Lorie Hetrick-Volenberg)
Lena will host a reading of "Gramelda the Grasshopper" – her first children's book – along with a book signing, a talk about grasshoppers, and nature activities inspired by the book. Both hardcover and paperback books are available to purchase at the park visitor center.
2:30-4 p.m. Nature-inspired stories in literature as read by Montgomery City public librarian Gaylee Harris
Ms. Harris will read popular stories depicting the world as seen through nature-inspired literature. Park interpreters will have native wildlife furs and artifacts on hand before and after the readings.
4-6 p.m. "Stories ‘n’ Stones," presented by storyteller Marilyn Kinsella and experimental archaeologist Larry Kinsella
Marilyn and Larry will combine their talents to share traditional stories and demonstrations of flint knapping as part of their popular programs developed for storytelling audiences.
