Storytelling Program

The campground amphitheater at Crowder State Park will be the location for a storytelling program on Saturday, June 4, at 7:30 pm. Cultural historian Br. John will portray world-class show horse performer, inventor, and horse whisperer/trainer Tom Bass. Bass was born into slavery in 1859 and nicknamed "The High-Hatted Horseman." He was the creator of the famed American Royal Saddlehorse Show, in Kansas City, Missouri.

Visitors are encouraged to come learn about another famous Missourian born in the same year as Enoch Herbert Crowder.
