Volunteer at Knob Noster State Park and help assess the water quality of Clearfork Creek, a tributary of the Blackwater River.
This is a moderate-impact volunteer activity in which volunteers will be in the creek and water. Expect a short hike into the creek and to get wet. Wear clothing and shoes that can be submerged. No experience is necessary, and training will be provided. Bring your own personal drinking water and snacks, if needed. Protect yourself by wearing insect repellent and sunscreen. This activity is good for ages 10 and up. Children 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
Contact Chris Edmondson by email (Chris.Edmondson@dnr.mo.gov) or by phone (660-563-2463) to sign up for this opportunity. Volunteers will meet Chris at the Knob Noster State Park visitor center at 2 p.m. This activity is expected to last about two hours.
In the event of inclement weather, this activity may be rescheduled.
This volunteer activity will utilize the presence or absence of macroinvertebrates to assess water quality. This is an important citizen-science-driven project by the Missouri Stream Team. For more information about Stream Team, visit mostreamteam.org.
