Keep Baker Beautiful Day

5/1/2021 | Sam A. Baker State Park | Patterson, MO

Sam A. Baker State Park is one of the most beautiful parks in the state, and we could use your help in getting it ready for the upcoming visitation season. The Missouri Department of Natural Resources and Sam A. Baker State Park are proud to present the 28th annual Keep Baker Beautiful Day, to be held on Saturday, May 1, between 8:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.

This special event not only commemorates Earth Day, but is also a great and fun way of connecting with the great outdoors. There will be assignments for all ages. Mulching, gardening and litter patrol are just a few of the projects planned for the day. We will provide equipment and tools, but you are welcome to bring your own. A free picnic lunch will be provided. To consider safety practices, sack lunches will be prepared ahead of time. Please let us know if you plan on bringing your own sack lunch or request vegetarian meals by emailing michelle.soenksen@dnr.mo.gov or calling 573-856-4514.

Please bring drinking water and a pair of work gloves, dress for the weather, and wear closed-toe shoes. In case of severe weather, the event will be canceled. However, a little rain has never stopped us in the past. Call the park to find out if the event is still on. Meet at Picnic Shelter #1, behind the park store, around 8:30 a.m. to meet other volunteers and get your project assignments.

For more information, contact the park naturalist at 573-856-4514. To register for this event, please go to http://bttr.im/ma6jz. Registration is required.

This free event is sponsored by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources and supported by the Parks, Soils and Water Sales Tax. Sam A. Baker State Park is located on Highway 143 about 4 miles north of Patterson.

Event Time: 8:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.
