Canceled: Island Cave Tours - Self-Guided

6/15/2020 to 8/15/2020 | Ha Ha Tonka State Park | Camdenton, MO

These tours are temporarily suspended.

Come take a break from the heat by exploring Ha Ha Tonka's Island Cave on a self-guided tour. From salamanders and bats to tall ceilings and many unique cave deposits, this small cave contains many things that all walks of cavers can enjoy.

To explore the Island Cave, you will need to call ahead and schedule a time to enter. You must have at least four people and no more than 12. One person must be 18 years of age or older, and each person must have three sources of light (candles with matches/lighter, flashlight, etc.) and a helmet. The park has helmets to loan with a refundable damage deposit. Closed-toe shoes are mandatory to enter the cave (no sandals, flip-flops, etc.), and full-legged pants and gloves are strongly encouraged. All equipment used must not have been used in another cave, or all equipment must be decontaminated in accordance to the latest federal white nose syndrome decontamination procedures.

The interior of the cave can be steep, slick and rugged. If you have issues entering confined spaces, this cave might not be for you. Once you have scheduled a time frame and have the necessary equipment, you will be provided with a map, self-guided tour instructions and access to the cave. For more information, please contact park staff at 573-346-2986.
