Buffalo Soldiers: From Slave to Soldier

In honor of Black History Month, Battle of Lexington State Historic Site and the Missouri Humanities Council are co-hosting a “Show Me: Missouri Speaker's Bureau” event. John Bruce will be presenting “Buffalo Soldiers: From Slave to Soldier” at the historic site visitor center on Tuesday, Feb. 25. Join us to learn about a former slave who was destined to change the course of American history and the world, during the Civil War.

John is the current president of the Alexander/Madison Chapter of the Buffalo Soldier 9th & 10th (Horse) Cavalry Association in Kansas City, the organization’s oldest chapter in the nation.
